A Birthday Affirmation to Share

This year I vow to always shine my heart in it’s truest nature.  To listen to my intuition and to move slowly and mindfully through each day.  I trust my inner guides and open to the fullest possibility that emerges from my center.  I create harmony in my life both within me and around me.  I promise to be myself and share my unique gifts with the world without comparing or competing with others, and in this sharing I promise to use my gifts and resources to further my own personal transformation, to give back in service to my family, my community, and those in need on this planet.

I vow to push myself out of my comfort zone, trusting my inner strength can carry me.  I laugh more, love more, and invite more divine pleasure and joy into each and everyday.  I see the goddess in me, and in others around me.

Most of all I look around each and every day in opulent gratitude for all that I have, all of the abundance that I create, and the good health of myself, my family and my friends.

I step forward fiercely, igniting my inner passion and spark with pure life force that guides me towards a deeper relationship with myself.  I renew and remember, renew and remember my own divinity with every breath.

Happy Solstice 2012

Here come the darkest, most magical nights…and the birth of a new year.  As you explore your deepest self this winter, find celebration in the marriage of the awareness in your body and mind.  Remember that awareness brings back life and rejuvenates the body.   Open to more light from within then ever before and share that light with gusto and brilliance with others.

  • RESTORE:  The energetics of winter remind us to hunker down, slow down, and restore our prana (life force). This  is the time of year to reflect on our health, replenish our energy, and conserve our strength.  We benefit from cooking our food slow and long and finding coziness and warmth together in our families and communities, while warming our hearts with laughter and connection.
  • ROOT DOWN:  Winter eating often entails preparing seasonal whole foods that can be stored, canned, or kept for the colder days of winter.  Canadian scientists recently compared the nutrient density of 33 vegetables and found that the most powerful winter veggie are brussels sprouts, leeks, beets, and kale.  These are important ones to land on your plate this year.  Just another way to bring vitality back to your body. Avoid eating to many raw foods during the winter as these tend to cool the body (digestion) too much.  Emphasize warming foods that stimulate digestion, circulation, and immunity:
  • Soups and stews
  • Root vegetables
  • Beans (especially adzuki and mung beans)
  • Miso and seaweed
  • Garlic and ginger
  • REFLECT: According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, winter is time to find a sense of inner peace and solace.    The sound of winter is silence.  The silence of the snow falling and the silence of our own journey inward.  It’s a great time to visit our intentions for a new year, meditate by candlelight, and become crystal clear on what we are calling forth for the new year.
  • REVERE:  Create a mindfulness practice around mealtime.  Because the body is moving slower in the wintertime, we are more sensitive to rushing through meals and higher levels of stress. To listen to what our bodies really want, we need to slow down.  Plan to sit down at mealtime in a calm environment for each nourishing meal.  Eat slowly and mindfully so that you can focus on chewing your food, listening to when your body is full, and absorbing and digesting optimally.
  • REJOICE:  Celebrating the returning of the light has been a ritual enjoyed by many cultures, far and wide for centuries.  Winter is full of so many festive times to join with family and friends.  When we come together, we warm each other’s hearts with love, gratitude, and kindness.  Use the time indoors to get creative in the kitchen, cook with friends and family, sit with candlelight to enjoy food together, and give thanks for the abundance we share through the winter.  I invite you to start your New Year simple, natural, and holistic, coming back to the natural flavors of whole foods, and sharing and savoring winter pleasures with presence and consciousness.

As all of you know by now, women’s health and happiness (empowerment, bliss, pleasure, yoga etc) are my passions, which is how Health Wise came about.  On that same  vibration so is coaching women in this personal and collective quest.  This is why the Sassy Salon was created (formerly known as Pillars of Womanhood).  This is our 5th year hosting year long powerful and incredible women’s groups that have both inspired me, transformed my work,  touched the hearts of many women who participated, while cultivating lifetime friendships and self discovery.  Just last year I joined forces with Angela Grace to co-facilitate the Sassy Salon.  Angela and I created our cleanse program together, we co-lead retreats to Costa Rica, and she has added some magic to our program that words cannot describe.  Read more about Angela here…

Here is the exciting news…as of today…yes TODAY, the Sassy Salon for Women is open for registration!  We begin January 22, 2013.  After returning this October from our final weekend in Ridgeway CO, soaking in Orvis Hot springs, and upping our practices and personal transformation, the women loved it so much that many are coming back for round 2, another year.  Click on over to read about all the juicy and sassy details.

Make this year the best year yet and join us in this incredible venture together.  Wherever and however you need to align yourself with your life, your health, and your experience, we can help.  We are committed to finding the perfect personal success recipe just for you.  The coolest thing is this will be our second year doing it all through virtual video chat (thank you Angela- she is so high tech).  Yes, it does remind me of the opening song of the Brady Bunch with all our little faces on the screen, but it is super cool and user friendly, and of course GLOBAL.  So where ever you are located, you can be a part.

Welcome to the Health Wise Journal.  A place where I can share with you so many amazing resources that have helped women world wide be more inspired in their lives.  These are not all my resources of course, but the resources I have learned from so many others I am so lucky to have met along my personal quest to health and happiness.

When I practice the Lakshmi meditation, I find a comfortable place to create “Sue Solace Space”, get nestled in, cozy, either alone or with my friends or women’s group (these women are amazing).  I tune inward to an inner listening, where I can access my center and my breath.  I call into my world of abundance and opportunity exactly what it is I am seeking, working on, or looking to manifest.

This version of Lakshmi is designed by Ariana Saraha, a wonderful singer and song writer from Boulder CO.  She artistically wrote this version of Lakshmi just for us!!!  Listen or chant or meditate on the energy Lakshmi brings to you, and try to open to all the possibility your life has to offer.

Of course we love to hear how it went, or what your experience was, so feel free to post on our facebook page so others can read and we can co-create a wonderful prosperous and abundant community of empowered women!!!

Warmly, Sue

Ahhh, YES!  I know you know this work is so important.  I am absolutely on fire that you want to join this QUEST for women to empower ourselves through self love.

Check this out: A recent study from Wake Forest University found  that giving ourselves a break and accepting our imperfections may be the first step toward better health. People who score high on tests of self-compassion have less depression and anxiety, and tend to be happier and more optimistic. Preliminary data suggest that self-compassion can even influence how much we eat and influences our over all relationship with our bodies.

Introducing the SELF LOVE MEDITATION

“There is a magnificent, beautiful, wonderful painting in front of you! It is intricate, detailed, a painstaking labor of devotion and love! The colors are like no other, they swim and leap, they trickle and embellish! And yet you choose to fixate your eyes on the small fly which has landed on it! Why do you do such a thing?”   ~C. Shine on SISTERS.

YAY!! you made it over.  I know we are all busy, but I promise, this is worth it. Sometimes we just have to step into our empowerment and see where we can really make a difference.  And of course the Health Wise mission is all about empowering women, so this is perfect to share.

Being in service to each of our individual lives is unique, and a personal journey.  This is just simple an example of how powerful we can be when we put our mind to something. One step at a time.  I hope this inspires you as much as me.  Enjoy.

It has been a wonderful week sharing this successes of launching Health Wise with all of you.  I can only begin to take it in, and receive the acknowledgement.  I am feeling so abundant and supported in our community.

As promised I will be bringing you many resources and tools for transformation from the best health and wellness gurus in the country.  This week, I had the lovely chance to interview Bari Tessler, founder of The Conscious Book Keeping Method.  She is known for her very unique approach to financial health and therapy, and I also found out she is yet another goddess who loves good dark chocolate (more about that on the interview)!

My journey with money healing began when I became a single mom, with not a lot of experience managing the family finances.  Man, I was so over my head both on the in-coming money side (ugh) and the out-going side (wow).  I was totally stuck, overwhelmed, and feeling paralyzed in this area.  Not only was that happening on the outside, visible to any set of eyes who could see the chaos, but also on the inside, where I was feeling totally out of control, shameful, and steam rolled by life.

I discovered The Conscious Book Keeping Method through a friend of mine, and proceeded to do groups, private coaching, and learn like a sponge all the ways possible to come back into integrity with my finances AND my beliefs around my finances.  It was profound.  I surely began to sleep better (the worry used to keep me up at night) and I started to become EMPOWERED around money for the first time.  I saw the direct effect on my stress level and my health which was a breakthrough  Not giving the job to someone else, but truly doing my personal work around it, and shifting from the inside out.  This became so supportive for me that I made a whole chapter of Health Wise about health and wealth. (I hope you’ll read it some time)

The wonderful thing about the work Bari does is that is doesn’t matter where you are starting from.   Maybe you want to fine tune, improve your money relationship with your partner, or even organize a large amount of money you inherited or are unsure of how to care for.

So here we are now, with a wonderful interview with the founder of The Conscious Book Keeping method, Bari Tessler, and a Health Wise Warrior-ess of her own.  I hope you take the time to listen.

Bari’s group coaching program is coming up, (and is time sensitive ~ doors close this friday) so if you want more, and are ready to focus the health of your wealth, check it all out by clicking below the links below.
